Short-term Rental Mentors from Afar Mentors from Afar

Choose wisely.

Our journey's are all different.   Choose who you learn from carefully. Is their success something YOU want to emulate? Is their experience relevant to your goals? What is their purpose for putting out information, are they open about any financial relationships they may have that may color their perspective? Here are some of my "mentors from afar", resources, and teachers.

Not STR specific, but I started - and still listen occasionally, to Bigger Pockets which has a lot of content for STR; and is how I learned about Real Estate Investing in general as I was sorting through what I wanted to do. Literally hundreds of hours of content - its all I listened to for months!

I listen to Short Term Rental Secrets podcast for the self-management operational insights in having a short-term rental business. Mike started with arbitrage, so if you are thinking co-hosting/arbitrage this is a good one for you as well.

Alex & Annie Vacation Rental Podcast was an "I'm growing up" moment - these ladies are industry mavens that supported my growth from beginner to intermediate industry professional.

The Boostly Podcast is in my rotations because Mark Simpson is a rockstar full of insights and advice to make my business more successful - slightly more advanced topics than for a beginner, but put this one in your rotation.

The STR Home Financing Podcast- put together by Jeff Chisum who has helped a number of my clients get into their first STR,  is also a STR investor. Tons of nuggets in this one, esp. for the rookie investors!

From the Vacation Rental Managers Association (VRMA), check out Arrival - which gives tons of info for rookies and established property managers.

Tribe of Millionaires Podcast because our tribe is everything.

I'll admit, there are tons of Podcasts out there that I haven't even tried, including some from folks whose groups I spend time in!  I tend to do audiobooks moreso these days.  So there are plenty more out there that may work for you!

Content creators and community builders I lean into -  while not exhaustive this is a good start!

Kate Stoermers The CEO Host - Private Group or on  Instagram HERE

Short-term Rental Association of Michigan (make sure to check out their events!)

Paige Hayes has a vibrant group for STR design in her  Meta group STR and AirBnB Furniture and Design  (and she has courses for design and photography as well!)

Female STR Investors

The Real Estate InvestHER Community

April Crossley taught me about private money lending - her stuff is great

Al Williamson is the King of Midterm Rentals and I learned it from him.

Mel Robbins helps kick me in the butt when needed and normalize the fact that life is chaotic and beautiful

Denise Duffield-Thomas helps me keep my money mindset in check (sometimes that's hard going from a W2 to self-employed!)

Dana Malstaff, founder of Boss Mom and my business coach through her Nuture to Convert Society helped me shift from boss in a big organization to Boss of MY organization  (Don't miss the Podcast episode I did with Dana HERE!)
